Musée du Louvre

On Sunday morning 13 February Helen and I arrived in Paris.  The sun had not yet risen when we boarded a train bound for Gare du Nord.  We made our way to Hotel Thérèse, checked in our luggage and went out directly in search of breakfast.  Our hotel was perfectly positioned in the 1st Arrondissement between Musée du Louvre and Opéra de Paris.  We strolled toward the Louvre, along the River Seine and stopped for baguette, a croissant and coffee.  Being rather tired from the long haul flight we decided to spend the day near our hotel.  In fact we spent the remainder of the day simply exploring the Louvre and by late in the afternoon we had still not exhausted all the museum had to offer.  So many beautiful sculptures, paintings and decorative art wares, as well as the Appartements Napoléon III (the grand salon and dining room pictured above).  Little did I realise just how much of a visual overload we were to experience in the coming weeks.  Truely spectacular.

  1. Those photos remind me of a certain french exchange trip. Tu te souviens, Helene? ;) They are lovely shots, but how about some photos with you both in them? :)

  2. Yeah, I know! It was a bit of a blast from the past seeing it was also très froid when we were there! Plenty of photos of us I can assure you but who really wants to see two people being tourists in front of every monument and landmark, n'est ce pas? ;)

Will share with you when you are here soon enough! We need to talk about your high tea!
